Quickpaw watched Sleetpaw seem to go into a sleeping stage. She felt worry bounce around in her ribcage and she licked his eyes lightly. "Sleetpaw?" She asked. "Sleetpaw! Wake up!" She said, breathing speeding up and nudging his side slightly. "What happened to you?" She whispered, dipping her paw in the water and dripping some onto his face. Maybe he'd wake up now.

Sleetpaw heard Quickpaw's frantic cries, and smiled a tired crooked smile subconsiously. He felt nothing for a moment, just let himself fall back again into the numbing darkness.
But he remembered Quickpaw. then. If he let himself fade away, and...die she surely wouldn't be happy. He blinked his eyes open, exhausted, but oddly calm, despite the circumstances. His mouth was opened as if he were about to speak, but he shut it abruptly, huffing a little sigh and muttering a cough. Then, he turned to Quickpaw again, preserving the image in his mind. In case, he told himself. In case, he or Quickpaw were to die...the image of her would remain with him always.

Quickpaw was relieved when his eyes open. The releif was squashed by fear when they shut again. "What's wrong with you?" She howled. She slid her body under is own and situated his body so that most of his weight was on her. She almost giggled at the thought of her carrying Sleetpaw--who would've thought?--but instead she started trudging back to WaveClan. She didn't know what was happening to him. Maybe he just needed sleep, maybe the stress on his emotions was too much for him to handle, maybe he was sick. Quickpaw swallowed harshly and tripped over her apws as she realized she was the cause of his sudden condition. She held in a sob and shook her head, pushing away her exhaustion and stomping even quicker to their clan's camp. "I won't ever hurt you again, Sleetpaw, I promise." She finally reached their camp and quickly hauled both of them into the apprentice's den, setting him on her nest. "Sleetpaw, Sleetpaw. Wake up. I'm going to get the medicine cat, unless you don't need one." She licked his ears gently. "Wake up," she pleaded.

Sleetpaw's eyes remained open most of the way, but narrowed tiredly; he couldn't exactly sleep with Quickpaw carrying him. "No...I'm fine," he said, in a small voice. "No medicine cat..for me. Just sleep. Thank you...for..carrying me back to camp." It seemed ironic--but he didn't tell Quickpaw that--that she would be the one to carry him around. He had always thought that he would end up carrying Quickpaw around at some point. To him, it seemed a little pathetic that he had been carried by a she-cat, but of course, he was too grateful for her to object.

Quickpaw scoffed and felt her limbs weaken from joy. "Mouse brain!" She whispered harshly. "Fine, no medicine cat," she said, lashing her tail. She laid down next to him. "But that doesn't mean that I'm going to let you sleep unsupervised." She wasn't sure if he'd heard her, he still seemed pretty out of it. She bundled up to his side and licked his head again before shutting her eyes and trying to find sleep. It eluded her and she finally sighed before rolling onto her back, paws in the air again, and staring at the view above her.

Sleetpaw, already drowsy, drifted quickly, falling into an empty, dreamless state. He was surrounded by darkness. It circled around him, closing him in. No matter how hard he tried, all he could see was the nothingness.
Suddenly, a cat stepped out of the gloom. He did not recognize the light brown tabby with the twisted jaw. It spoke to him, slowly, "Greetings, young one. My name is Crookedstar. I was once the leader of RiverClan; from which your Clan is descended."
Sleetpaw nodded, trying to take in his surroundings. What was this cat meowing about? "Greetings," he mewed, dipping his head in welcome. "Why have you come to me?" He'd figured he'd get right to the point.
Crookedstar chuckled. "Patience. I have come to share with you. There is trouble ahead for you. Trouble that may affect your Clan's survival. Be wise. Do not make a wrong move." In moments, he was swept away by a swirl of stars. And Sleetpaw was left alone in darkness.
"Quickpaw..." Sleetpaw moaned, reluctantly lifting his eyelids. "When is it?" He found it hard to speak coherently, so he figured he wouldn't say a thing about his dream yet.

Quickpaw jolted to her side and smacked her head against Sleetpaw's. Cursing profusely, she twitched her whiskers. "I'm so sorry," she wailed quietly. She shook her head fiercely. "When is what?" She asked, wanting to know what he meant by his previous question. She yawned slightly before rolling up and stretching languidly.

"When..." Sleetpaw repeated slowly. He sighed and tried again, "What time of day is it?" There was no way of knowing what time it was. His eyes were barely opened, and he could just make out Quickpaw's figure beside him. Perhaps if he got up he would feel better. Maybe a quick walk around...or a hunt would lift his spirits.

Quickpaw's eyes widened in understanding. "Oh!" She smiled widely. "I have no idea!" She stood up and shook her whole boy to free it from leaves and dirt. "Are you feeling well enough to eat something?" She asked, worry evident in her green eyes.
